Comic book orders hold steady

Encouraging tho see that according to Comichron's analysis of the direct comic market, Overall orders flat, down 7% YTD, direct market sales of comic books and graphic novels are holding pretty steady. Of course, I sure many retailers hoped that the release of the Watchmen movie might push sales of the collected editions even higher then they've been. But pretty respectable just to to be holding even in these economic times.

Babylon Falling

So Babylon Falling is closing.

Sad news indeed. I actually only became aware of this place recently, but was immediately impressed by both the progressive politics of the place and the artwork of the David Young that was up during my first visit. Proprietor Sean shared a bit about his decision to shut his doors on the store blog, and I can definitely feel him on the tough choice to close up and move on. I totally respect the decision though. Times ARE tough. But for the next few months he's offering everything in the store at a 50% discount. He's got an amazing selection of books, and every purchase helps I'm sure.
